Retirement Package for our Politicians

The former President of Ghana, JA Kuffour has hinted that the GHC80,000 given to Parliamentarians at the end of their 'service to Ghana' is justifiable and that Ghanaian should understand and appreciate this 'thank you' gesture to our Parliamentarians. This was contained in his response to the issue of ex-gratia which is currently a heated debate in Ghana. Whilst we appreciate the 'service' rendered to Ghanaians by our Parliamentarians, the question is, 'should Ghana spend such huge sums of money on outgoing Parliamentarians?'. Are their services worth more than what is rendered by other workers in Ghana? Your views are welcome

Causing Financial Loss!!!!

As Ghanaians, we often get worried that our scarce resources are mismanaged by government official and in some cases, public/civil servants whilst in office. Some of the mismanagement could be due to bad policies which were implemented. In some cases, such mismanagement is wilful. A few Ghanaian politicians have been jailed for causing financial loss to the nation. Investigations going on currently after the celebration of our Golden Jubilee celebration point to the fact that huge resources have been mismanaged by the the Ghana@50 Secretariat. Question is, should government officials and public/civil servants be jailed for causing financial loss whilst implementing official policies? Your views are welcome
